The Home Equity Conversion Mortgage, (HECM) or commonly referred to "Reverse Mortgage" is a Federally insured FHA Home Loan. This program allows for seniors, age 62 and older to be able to access a portion of their housing wealth accumulation/ appreciation. Our discussions will be focused on the program qualifications, features and benefits and to fully understand ALL of the steps needed to proceed after fully understanding this loan.

Having assisted my own parents obtain a reverse mortgage, I am now more than ever convinced that accessing a portion of your housing wealth accumulation and appreciation can and will best assist you reach your best retirement goals and needs! Retirement expert, Dr. Wade Pfau, (Ph.D.) has written several books on both the specific use and benefits of a reverse mortgage and provided extensive interviews on the subject matter. You will find his findings very insightful and this information will provide you with a neutral third party point of view on the benefits of this program in your retirement.

There is no push to "sell" you anything because this program is not a product that you can "buy". My "job" is to help you know the truth, or "reality" about this program and how its features and benefits can assist you.

In fact, if you decide to move forward with a reverse mortgage, you will be REQUIRED to attend a mandatory counseling program, given by a 3rd party that will again go over the program, any questions you have the specific. proposal that I will have. prepared to review with you.

Even then, there is a 7-day waiting period, a "cooling off" period to ensure that your decision to move forward is made with your best interest in mind. And lastly, even AFTER you sign your loan documents, if you still want to cancel this loan, you will have 3 days to cancel the loan! So clearly, YOU will be in control over this entire period, and YOU can decide whether this is a good option for you!
